Kick-Off Workshop

Call for Participation

Goal

This workshop will explore how designers and artists in the area of "Physical Interaction Design" can be empowered to not only build "just-enough-prototypes", but also move on to the next steps. One of these next steps is the link to PCB production.

In the last years, thanks to the work of few visionaries, non-engineers have been enabled to creatively work with electronics. Important steps in this area were the book "Physical Computing" by Tom Igoe and Dan O’Sullivan and the microcontroller "Arduino" by Massimo Banzi, David Cuartielles and others.

The aim of the FRITZING workshop is to get people together who teach and work in this field. We want to share experiences and develop various visions for the next steps. Furthermore, Reto Wettach, André Knörig and Zach Eveland will present and discuss their vision for FRITZING, a tool which allows quick PCB-design of breadboard-based prototypes. Last but not least we would like to define work packages for FRITZING and to invite all participants to join our efforts.
