Install Fritzing

1. Go to the download page to start downloading the Fritzing package that's right for you.

2. Unzip your Fritzing folder somewhere convenient on your hard drive.
   This may also be a good time for you to create a shortcut to the Fritzing application. (A free unzipping program can be found here, should you need it.)

3. Double click on the Fritzing application, to start Fritzing.

   Requirements

   Fritzing needs to run in the Java Runtime Environment (version 1.5 or higher).
   If you don't have it, download and install it free from: http://java.com

   Mac users:

   Mac 10.4 Tiger users: Apple just released a new version of Java on december 13th 2007. It is recommended you install this update. It fixes some bugs with the framework we build Fritzing on. You can install it through Software Update or from here: Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 6

   Mac 10.3 Panther users: If you are using a version earlier than OS X 10.4 see the note on requirements in the Troubleshooting guide.

Eagle installation

1. Download and install the latest EAGLE 5 from http://cadsoft.de/download.htm
   The self-extracting archive will guide you through the setup process, choose a convenient destination for Eagle, and when prompted at the end of the setup choose 'Run as Freeware'.

2. Now we need to point Fritzing to the Eagle installation. Open File -> Preferences.. and in the Preferences dialog box open the Fritzing tab and select Eagle. Set the location to the base folder of your Eagle installation. Click OK to save your settings.

3. So now you're ready to export a Printed Circuit Board! Simply choose File > Export > to Arduino Shield PCB

4. In Eagle, enable 'Command texts' in the menu under Options > User Interface... > Controls to see the Fritzing menu on the right side.
