Problems Launching FRITZING in Linux
Up to Installation
Hello,
I'm not able to launch Fritzing on a Linux Debian desktop. I think requirements are satisfied cause Java has been succesfully installed (tested@Java.com) but I get a lot of complaints. Attached you'll find the log. I have no idea about Java so I cannot figure out what is going on.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
We don't have a linux box to test with, but here's a thread that might be helpful:
http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.platform.rcp/msg27406.html and
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Equinox_Launcher#Finding_a_VM.2C_Using_JNI_Invocation_or_Executing_Java
The thread's suggestion is to point to a different jvm (java virtual machine).
Hopefully someone with a successful installation of Fritzing under Linux could help further.
I am also unbale to launch Fritzing on linux (Gentoo, AMD64).
All I get is a eclipse-style-looking error window.
Is it possible, that this is problem regarding 64bit apps? My system is 64bit, but has all needed 32bit libs as well.
As far as I am not a java freak, how do I exactly point Fritzing to another vm?
I tried .Fritzing -vm /opt/java32/bin/java which shows me at least Frtzings splash screen.
so, any hint are very welcome. If I find a solution myself, I'll post it here ...
Hi Nils,
the Linux version we currently provide is for 32bit only. The difference is due to a few GUI-related libraries (SWT) that access native code.
But we now also have a 64bit Linux machine here, and will build the next Fritzing version for those machines, too. Let us know if it's urgent.
