Export to PCB

Up to Bugs
hi, nice to meet you. when I heard about you guys release this app. I am so excited. anyway, I directly downloaded this and test. actually I didn't test enough but I found one bug(?) I guess. when I attempted for exporting to PCB, it made a location error even I set right location to eagle app. welll, actually Fritzing couldnt find eagle.exe file in bin folder. only I can see 'bin' as last subfolder. therefore, I typed the location of eagle app. by force. then it didnt accept the address.   how can I solve this problem? any idea? Cheers!   P.S: I extected to see the new interface. ;)

hi, nice to meet you. when I heard about you guys release this app. I am so excited. anyway, I directly downloaded this and test. actually I didn't test enough but I found one bug(?) I guess.

when I attempted for exporting to PCB, it made a location error(also shows subfolder tiwce, for instance,  ...bin\bin... ;)even I set right location to eagle app.

welll, actually Fritzing couldnt find eagle.exe file in bin folder. only I can see 'bin' as last subfolder. therefore, I typed the location of eagle app. by force. then it didnt accept the address.

Error Message

Could not find EAGLE installation at C:\Program Files\EAGLE-4.16r2\bin\

please check it you correctly set the EAGLE location in the preferences.

Reason: No EAGLE executable at C:\Program Files\EAGLE-4.16r2\bin\bin\EAGLE.exe

how can I solve this problem? any idea?

Cheers!

P.S: I extected to see the new interface. ;)

Hi,

and nice to meet you, too! The Eagle location in the preferences needs to be set to the Eagle base folder, so in your case C:\Program Files\EAGLE-4.16r2.

However, I can see from the install location that you tried it with Eagle 4.16. We currently only support the beta of the new Eagle 5 (which has the version number 4.9). I'be curious to know if it works with the old one, though, let us know.

Hi, Andre. :) I tested what you told me exactly. unfortunately, it didn't work neither. :(

so I tried to download a new version(4.9) of eagle app. from the site. but same problem...

and finally, I change to aother computer to test, but also it makes the same problem. hum... weird.

do you have any other solution for this? if you say yse, it would be great.

and thank you for helping me. ;)

Cheers!

Hi digitypo,

that's weird indeed.. Let's see, you're on Windows, installed the latest Eagle beta, set Fritzing preference to the Eagle install location folder (C:\Program Files\EAGLE-4.90.8) and checked that on your harddrive there actually exists C:\Program Files\EAGLE-4.90.8\bin\eagle.exe, right?

Here are some more things that you could try:

If Fritzing insists on the double \bin folder, delete the Fritzing-0001\workspace folder. That should reset all the settings. After that, try to set the preferences again.

If the location seems to be alright, copy the path of eagle.exe shown in the error message into the command line, and see if Eagle starts. (You can invoke the command line by pressing Win+R and then entering cmd).

If that still doesn't work, Reto is in Tokyo this week and maybe he can come by ;)

Hi, Andre. :) Thanks for your kind reply.

I'm still working on it. at first I have got this error message.

Could not find Fritzing ULP at C:\Program Files\EAGLE-4.90.8\ulp\fritzing_master.ulp.

Please check if you copied the fritzing EAGLE files to the EAGLE subfolders.

Reason:

Fritzing ULP not found.

Then I found the 'fritzing_master.ulp' file from  ( C:\Program Files\fritzing-0001\eagle\ulp\fritzing_master.ulp )

and I copy this file to ( C:\Program Files\EAGLE-4.90.8\ulp\fritzing_master.ulp ). then it works.

However, I have other problem with Eagle app. I will figure it out first what's going on. I guess eagle crashes with old version of directories.

Hi Christopher,

4.9 is the beta for the upcoming Eagle 5. You can get it from http://cadsoft.de/betatest.htm. The installation instructions for Fritzing also provide the link.

Be aware though that we just noticed some missing footprints in our library, so that the export to Eagle will not work with some parts. We're hoping to publish an updated release very soon.

Hi, greetings. Fritzing is wonderful :)

I had a similar error in Mac Os, with the 4.16 eagle version, but with the eagle beta version, Fritzing export pcb to eagle OK.

I will try contribute making parts after exams.

Thanks.
